Sunset Jet Ski Tours... Loved it
nicholasbprima, 12-12-2022
It was my first time doing riding and operating a Jet Ski and I have to say Jeff our tour guide was on point with everything. He was very knowledgeable when it comes to instructing first timers and veterans of using a Jet Ski also he was well informed about Key West history, Maritime Laws and ocean safety. I loved ever minute of and will do it again any time I come to Key West... :)
A great way to see Key West!

Our family of three did the jet ski tour and had a great time! Our ages range from 23-58. Morgan led our group and Steve assisted. We are not experienced jet ski riders and they took their time to make sure we were comfortable. We were glad we each had our own jet ski. Yes, you go fast at times. Yes, it’s on the ocean so it can be choppy at times. And it’s all worth it!

We spent the afternoon with Gavin and his team. Its was a great trip. Gavin made us feel safe l and also let us open up the ski on the water! Super fun. We will definitely ride with them next time we come to Key West.
Great experience

Great trip. Guides were very patient. The weather was beautiful. The dog rode a jet ski. I did not crash.
Great tour

Great tour whether you’re a long time rider or first time jet skier. You ride in both the gulf and the ocean

My husband and i road together. Great experience. Tour guides were knowledgeable and funny. Nice to to have someone to follow and not worry about getting lost or running aground.

Had an amazing time ripping up and down the coast of key west with these guys. They’re funny and educational, plus they take great photos. Jeff and Gavin are the most legendary tour guides we’ve ever had. Definitely a must do for anyone visiting who loves a good thrill.
Awesome

This is an awesome experience; and they customize, that’s the best part. For the more aggressive riders, they go in the ocean, with 3 foot surf and for casual rider a different route, but just as beautiful.

Kudos to Gavin and Jeff for accommodating all riders.

The guides were very informative and made sure everyone went at their own speed and no one left behind. They took us in calm waters and rough waters

A Lot of Fun, but beware...

My family of 4 had a great time, but I didn't realize until the day of that my 17 yr old couldn't ride by himself. Even though FL boating rules says 16 is ok, due to insurance riders have to be 18. So luckily they were able to sell my 4th jetski and they'll refund the cost.

This tour is run by Sunset Watersports, located in the Parrot Key resort. Their hut is located in the resort, close to the road, on a side canal. Don't head down to the beach area per the "Sunset Pier" signs in the resort. We parked for free between Home Depot and Walgreens next door. Or you can pay to park in the resort.

Drivers born after 1988 (don't remember exact date/year) need to take the FL Boater safety course and test online. My sons failed the first time or so so you might want to take this before you arrive. Most of the 25 questions are common sense things. Use the link in the Sunset website for the test. It costs $8.99, not $40 like I saw on other sites.

We had a full tour with 15 to 20 skis and 4 guides. They put the experienced or faster skis in a group up front and reassessed after our first stop. Some riders were timid and went slow so they got caught up in the waves more. It was a lot of fun on the bay side but pretty rough when we crossed over to the ocean. I was on the back so wasn't able to stand up to get a smoother ride. I also didn't realize until the end that you can absorb some of the impacts with your legs. So I had a rough ride and actually felt my spine compress on one hit, which scared me. The guides came over and were very attentive after that. I rode back with one of them for a smoother ride on the last leg. We were on the 4;00 tour so drove by Mallory Square as the sun was setting.

Overall we had a lot of fun and would do this again, but I would stick to the bay side if I had a choice, especially if you had a child riding with you. I felt the guides were very attentive, riding up and down the line to keep an eye on everyone. There were parts where we were stretched out, but I think they were always watching. We rode on new jetskis that were only a week old. There was no changing room or lockers, but you could use the restroom in the hotel a short walk away and store your bag in the Sunset hut. The skis also had a watertight glove compartment with a slot for a phone.

Thanks to Sunset Wayersports for a great time!
